Soho Communication Arts is a

Commercial Art Academy in Visual Art.

Students take visual art classes in the computer lab and visual art

studio. Our school offers courses in Career & Financial Management, Two

Dimensional Design, Graphic Design 1, Graphic Design 2, Color media,

Digital Photography, Graphic Design 2 and Web Design. The software

applications used in these courses are Adobe Illustrator, Adobe

Photoshop, Adobe Indesign and Macromedia Dreamweaver.

There are three certified New York State CTE Commercial Art teachers.

In order to get certified, by New York State and New York City, these

teachers have to show proof of employment as a Commercial artist. One

of the three CTE teachers, also has a New York State Visual Art license.

In June, all of the CTE teachers select their top students to compete

in the New York City Board of Education High School Graphic Arts competition.

Our school offers an internship program for seniors. These internships

enable some students to acquire occupational skills for their resume.

Other students acquire artwork to add to their senior portfolio.

During their Senior year, The CTE teachers work with their students to

develop a portfolio. Upon graduation, some students use their porfolio

for careers in the Commercial Art field whereas others applying to

colleges and universities with Graphic Design programs.
